Biomolecular engineering reflects the much-needed interface between biology and engineering. Biofabrication – the use of biological materials and mechanisms for construction – offers the opportunity to span these disciplines by providing convergent and synergistic approaches for building biological device interfaces. IBBR researchers work together to effectively integrate molecular-level events into an understanding of complex biological systems and to create the next generation of tools necessary for rapid, accurate and cost-effective analysis of biomolecules.
